Recruiting: It’s about people

Misconceptions about Recruiters

A cold outreach I did this week returned the message:

“I would put your profession in the same class as used car salesmen.”

Here’s someone who was promised the world and received nothing upon delivery. Perhaps he was ghosted by a recruiter as a candidate, perhaps the candidates submitted didn’t meet his spec as the hiring manager. Perhaps his favorite candidate drove off in the used car he had been eyeing. Anyway, recruiters in certain circumstances may have an unfortunate reputation.

Why has the shine come off of recruiters? I’ll tell you -

Communication Breakdown:  You got ghosted at some point in the process

Mismatched Expectations:  Your recruiter wasn’t clear about the process

Overpromising and Under Delivering:  You got sold on a role that wasn’t as described

Lack of Personalization:  Felt like the recruiter didn’t read your profile, just ran with one keyword

Negative Experiences Amplified:  We tend to remember the bad over the good - I know you’ve had a good recruiting experience!

Perception vs. Reality:  The recruiter was a smooth talker instead of an expert in helping you guide and navigate your career

Industry Regulation:  Well, there isn’t any. No certification is needed to be a recruiter.

Recruiting done well

Another quote for you, an unsolicited comment from a candidate participating in a current search, “You have been instrumental in helping me even get this far—not to mention highly responsive and the consummate professional”. That certainly doesn’t match with all that negative stuff above.

What’s up with Rise Executive Search?

People!

Us, you, candidates, CEO, hiring managers - we are all people.

We believe that our network is our livelihood. Candidates who we’ve gotten to know become clients because we thrilled and delighted them through a process (even if they didn’t get the offer!). Clients come back because we took the time to get to know them, their team, their business, and what kind of person will get them to the next level.

Changing Industry Reputation

We are on a mission to improve the rep of retained recruiters. We aren’t head hunters and we aren’t shuffling resumes. We hold ourselves to high ethical standards, which means a good experience for you.

Why do clients repeatedly partner with us?

Access to Top Talent: We have extensive networks and resources for sourcing top-tier candidates. We specialize in identifying and attracting qualified professionals who may not be actively seeking new opportunities, ensuring that your company has access to the best talent for the position, whether or not they are “available”.

Time and Resource Savings:  Recruiting for key positions can be a time-consuming and resource-intensive process, requiring significant investment in sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates. By outsourcing these tasks to us, you save valuable time and resources, allowing you to focus on your core business activities.

Specialized Expertise:  Our specialized expertise allows us to understand the unique needs of your company and identify candidates who are the best fit for the role and your culture. We can provide you with deep insights into market trends, candidate qualifications, hiring strategies, organizational analysis, and compensation studies.

Confidentiality and Discretion:  If you need to fill a key position discreetly, such as replacing an underperforming executive or hiring for a sensitive role, we can provide an added layer of confidentiality and discretion. By representing your interests professionally we minimize the risk of leaks or negative publicity.

Streamlined Recruitment Process:  We have the expertise and resources to streamline the recruitment process from start to finish. We can handle everything from writing job descriptions and posting job ads to conducting initial screenings, scheduling interviews, and negotiating job offers. This end-to-end support ensures a seamless and efficient recruitment process for your company.

Reduce Risk of Bad Hires:  Making a bad hire for a key position can have significant consequences for a company, including wasted time, resources, and potential damage to the company's reputation. We use rigorous screening and assessment methods to thoroughly evaluate candidates and ensure they have the skills, experience, and cultural fit required for the position. This reduces the risk of making a costly hiring mistake.

How do we do all this?

By getting to know you! Anyone can put together a list of competencies and hard skills and go do a search for people with those attributes. You can’t search for personality, mission or passion alignment. That happens over time and it’s why we take the time to get to know all the people involved and nurture those relationships for the long run.

Job seekers don't let a few bad experiences sour you on the whole recruitment process. There are plenty of us out there who genuinely want to help you find the perfect job (or at least one that doesn't make you want to pull your hair out). And hiring managers, we're here to make your life easier, not harder; don't write us off as glorified middlemen.

Either way, we aren’t trying to sell you a lemon. Working with Rise you get a guaranteed mileage of professional expertise, zero recalls on placements, and a full tank of enthusiasm for finding you the perfect job or candidate. Plus, no haggling required – just a smooth ride to success!
